The Emergency Department at St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our goal is to respond to your emergencies with skill and compassion. The ER staff works hard to ensure patients receive the highest quality of healthcare.
Our ER is always staffed with physicians, technicians, nurses and support staff. The facility includes rooms specifically equipped to deal with trauma, ear/nose/throat, cardiac, obstetric and pediatric emergencies, and other general treatments. If the patient needs treatment for a condition beyond a level III trauma, St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital will transfer the patient to the most appropriate facility.
Every patient is assessed in the triage area upon arrival to determine the direction of care needed. After assessment, each patient is diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible without deterring the level of care provided. When the Emergency Department physicians release a patient, our staff provides them with written instructions and complete follow-up care. This way recovery time and care can continue in the patient's home.
The amount of time you may spend at an Emergency Room visit varies depending on the treatment and care necessary. However, our staff works diligently to see that patients are treated and released as soon as possible.
